GeoPro's second generation permanent marine seismological station has a new type of buoy build of yellow Polyethylene with 8mm thickness which has a buoyancy of 2.4t.
It contains the Sedis seismic processor unit, the radio transmitter and modem and the power supply of the system. Two 12V gel batteries provide the station with the necessary power which is renewed by solar panels.
The robust construction requires minimum of maintainance and the station can be serviced also by a small boat since the instrumental container is easy to remove and support.
The broadband sensor is placed at the sea bottom in a glass sphere housing and can be removed from the sea floor without having to lift the buoy.
The system can be also used for meteorological and oceanographic observations.
